Delaware Dem
flipped out a little, but I forgive him/her. We all reach breaking point sometimes, and get a bit emotional. Same goes for the
retort diary. No hard feelings here.
This diary is (essentially) a copy of a comment which miraculously had slews of 4s rained down upon it earlier. Being the incoherent goon that I am, this happens rarely. Since the comment apparently contains some value, I'm reproducing it here as a diary, for greater visibility, in the hope that it might calm or reconcile the two sides of the Ohio debate.
Personally, I'm not really the F-word type (neither F--K nor FR--D). I believe there is subtlety at work with the Ohio issue on dkos. Sensible folk among us realise Ohio may not be overturned. That's not the point. The point is, publicizing the flaws in the voting system, so that we don't get shafted in 2008.
Consider this:
(1) 2000. After the event, the WSJ reported that Gore did in fact win the election. SHAFTED.
(2) 2004. Spreadsheets seem to show that had voter supression not occurred in Ohio, there is a chance Kerry would have won. SHAFTED.
(3) 2008. ...? SHAFTED?
Some people are tearing their hair out that the pathetic state of our election process is not being publicized. So they auto-recommend Ohio/fraud diaries etc in a desparate attempt to break the media silence.
I'm completely with the "anti-Ohioans": there are other long-term strategic things we need to deal with, including the DNC chair etc etc.
But look at this. Every star/dash represents one month between now and the 2008 presidential election.
* * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The first two *s represent December and January, the critical time to push "we must fix the voting system in this country!" Trying to push Conyers, Jesse Jackson, Cobb, Ohio etc etc is a fulcrum for this. Strike while the iron is hot. See all those remaining dashes between now and the 2008 election? Plenty of time left for other strategic stuff.
Pushing Ohio/fraud into the dkos Recommended Diaries column is just a temporary thing, a timely thing. If we don't get publicity now for fixing our election process, when will we?
[P.S. Thanks to miss love for an improved diary title.]
